This is for our children. In the past, Americans have tried to change the fact that we did not treat each other fairly. The disrespect that is offered up against cultural backgrounds still stings us and prohibits growth. We tell our children to communicate but we do not accept open communication with each other because the truth can sometimes hurt and be a pill too big to swallow. However, today there are subjects we can agree our children need to know. Reading and Arithmetic are still two of the most important but now science, history, and geography are just as important educational subjects as well. There is so much information to categorize and put into order. Families need access to this order. Family members are well known to be first teachers. Often, they are the best teachers. If you had a chance to instruct your child at home. would you take it? All you need are the right tools to offer your child the best practices for a successful life. Reconstructing education and child development starts at home.

In the past, a mother’s qualities were warm, caring, patient, and creative. She talks to, laughs with, and listens to her children. She read, played, sang, and enjoyed interacting with her children. She was sensitive to her children’s feelings and needs. She knew how to comfort them. She kept the family together. Presently mothers still have these qualities and much more. In this era, she must go to work or school and relies on the public school system to help pick up the slack when it comes to teaching academics and freeing up time. She needs money to have a home. This should put pressure on our leaders to prioritize education reform with help and tools; remembering the family at the core of necessary change, but it does not it shifts the pressure back onto the mother with no tools, not even simple financial literacy. She accepts the guilt and ignores the disrespect because she needs the help. She takes what she can get although wishing for the best. This is a brutal cycle of the urban underclass and paints a picture of the social-emotional trauma that our families are experiencing in real-time. Family is the center of social-emotional stability for all cultural backgrounds. Education reform needs to send home the tools.

There are subjects we can agree on. Education is such a wide spectrum of the human experience. Therefore, it embodies growth and the ability to heal socially, emotionally, and physically. We not only have libraries across our great country. We have internet, which is extremely helpful, but the internet can be abusive too. Yes, this means adding typing and technology to our list of educational subjects. This also means digging deep into social-emotional development rebuilding with each other and staying open-minded. Our children are vulnerable to everyday life and everyday trauma. We can protect them and educate them. We just want to offer our children a fighting chance. The information to do so is right at our fingertips. It is a fact that children read to do better than children not read to.

You can pick up a book and read it to a child today. It is a benefit to upload a basic curriculum to access creating a safe environment, meals, naps, and age-appropriate limits. It should be a family homeschool experience. A child who learns at home is a more productive citizen. We know the education system needs reform. We owe it to ourselves to take to advantage of learning and teaching. Letting go of the infamy of the past achievement gaps that exist between demographic groups and pushing through to the future where families instructing their children is at the top of the list. The outline of health and wellness is language and literacy, mathematics, science, history, and geography. The outline of a safe environment is budget and finance, food and water, shelter, and education. Whatever subject you start on just start; Go Get It!
