ACTIVITY:
- When the child is in his or her crib, carrier, seat, or being held by another adult in a quiet setting, make sure that he or she is comfortable. move to the right of the child with a bell or rattle. Try not to make any noise as you move.
- Shake the noisemaker and watch to see if the child shows anybody or facial responses.
- If there is no obvious response, try again later. Do not continue this activity with any frequency. It may be stressful for a newborn.
