Sadness and depression at times become intertwined. They are not the same thing because people are sad at various times for varied reasons. Sadness may last a few hours or a few days. Depression on the other hand claims your life all day long. When this chronic emotion takes over your inner man it turns to anger which leads to a decline in energy, weight gain, aches and pains, and other symptoms.
Your emotional wellness can have a profound effect on your body. Some of us find that we manage stress best by denying our feelings and trying to stay so busy there is no time to “feel” them. This behavior unconsciously demands that our physical body deals with the stress of grief and sorrow sent to the lungs and the colon, stress of fear sent to the kidney, stress of anger, resentment, and jealousy sent to the liver and gallbladder, stress of sadness sent to heart, and small intestine and the stress of the everyday hustle and bustle of American living sent to the stomach, spleen, and pancreas.
It is important to know the brain (pineal gland) releases hormones directly and specifically at the system inundated with the emotions mentioned above to bring balance. If emotions can be bottled up and not positively expressed, they can be piled up in the system responsible for the emotion. Bottomline because we have not dealt with our emotional well-being first it has shown up as the root of many diseases. A healthy body is a temple for building a healthy community. Wholistically, we can apply tactics to successfully treat the damage of this unethical behavior immediately. Using essential oils is a natural way of addressing so many wellness issues. For sadness and depression use clary sage, frankincense, lemon, and lavender they will put your olfactory region to work and stimulate your limbic system with and sense of refreshment and upliftment.
Using two tablespoons of base oil such as almond oil, grape seed oil, or coconut oil thoroughly blend all oils.
Two drops of clary sage (moves stagnant energy, supports emotional challenges, and calms the mind)
Two drops of frankincense (brings focused attention and tranquility and supports all levels of emotional healing)
Two drops of lemon (promotes outward energy)
Two drops of lavender (calms, nurtures, reduces anxiety and fear, and balances all body systems)
Drop some of this blend into the shower before you get in. After a shower or bath massage oil over your entire body. Add 2-3 drops to the bottom of your feet before bedtime. Place 2-3 drops onto a cotton ball and inhale. You can put the cotton ball in a plastic bag and take it with you to help you get through the day as you need it.
This should help with sadness and depression. If you are under medical supervision or pregnant and/or breastfeeding consult with a medical and/or integrative professional for guidance in using these oils safely. Please have respect for the concentration of chemical properties in pure essential oils. You can properly incorporate them into your daily life but do your due diligence and use them safely.
